Charlotte Post Race

We finished the Charlotte Race! After the bad luck in Kansas on May 2, we needed to had a good result in Charlotte. The problem we had with Narain being taken out on that race, was first being taken out, and second being taken out so early. It was the first race for Narain in a 1.5 Mile oval track. The laps where really needed because the only previuos experience was Martinsville that is a totally different track to race. He only did 7 laps and the day was over. With the Nascar testing rules not permitting anyone to test on tracks that are on the Nascar calendar, there is no way you can test for a 1.5 Mile oval track. And to recreate a race on a testing day is impossible. More than having a bad result in Kansas, the problem was that there was no experience taken out from that weekend.Anyway, with the limited experience, we went to test on Wednesday May 19th on Concord Motorsports Park, a small tri-oval shaped track in Concord, NC. The test started very well with Narain looking very fast right out after unloading the truck. He did a few laps then stopped for a change on the set up and went out again. Suddenly, entering turn one he looses it completely and hits the wall on the left side. Hard hit. The primary truck for Charlotte was done. Bad news, we needed to get another truck ready for the race.Chad Kendrick ( the crew chief for the #60 truck) immediately called the race shop so they could started moving on getting another truck ready. There was not enough time.I must say that the crew did a very good job finishing another truck just in time for the Hauler to arrive to the track on thursday the very next day.Practice one on Friday was a little slow for Narain. He didnĀ“t like the feeling of the truck, and was trying to sort things out along with Chad. On second practice, on the second lap, bad news again... I hear Narain say on the radio: " I see some smoke coming out of the engine, I shutted down". Bad news again! The engine blew and we missed again all the laps on practice. The much needed laps were missed again. The crew again did a very good job of changing engine before qualifying. The only time we had to see if the engine was good and not leaking anywhere was during the two qualifying laps.
