We survived Martinsville! Part 1

Hello Everyone!
Narain Karthikeyan and Starbeast Motorsports made history on March 27, 2010 in Martinsville, Virginia. NK became the first driver ever from India to race in a NASCAR sanctioned event.
Martinsville mentaly was a little hard for me because everyone told us that it would be virtually impossible for a rookie, with no oval or stock car experience, to finish the race.
Everything started on Wednesday when we went to test to Motor Mile in Virginia. That became the first time NK drove a NASCAR Camping World Truck. We started a little slow, getting used to the truck and the oval. At the end of the test, Narain was up to speed and making some consistent lap times. Stacy Compton decided to stop the test when NK was really comfortable and just when he did 5 laps in the same lap time range. At that point the confidence was high so it was a good way to finish prior to the practice day in Martinsville. I really thought is was a good decision from Stacy.
Friday was the first practice day in Martinsville. We had to sessions for practice and then qualifying in the afternoon.
I met NK at the entrance of Martinsville Speedway and as soon as he got out of the car, four fans asked him for autographs and pictures. To be honest I was kind of surprised because I never thought that american die hard NASCAR fans will go ask for autographs this early. It was a good surprise of course.
When we got through the tunnel and got to the infield, I instantly felt people staring at NK, just checking who the new boy from F1 was. NK was in the spotlight now.
On the first practice we were P-31 and 7 tenths of the fastest truck; Harvick who was absolutely flying. On the second practice we were 5 tenths of the fastest truck and according to NK he could have improved maybe 2 more tenths, the problem was that it started to rain and the second practice was cancelled with a few minutes still to go.
Qualifying was also cancelled due to rain. We started 11th due to points from 2009 of the # 60 Truck.
I knew it was going to be a long day for Narian at the track...and it was.
On the first laps of the race NK went from 11th to 31st. The first thing he said on the radio was: "They are eating me alive!".
